Edward Marquis – The Founder

 

Edward is the Founder and Director of the company and is based in the south of France. Edward has inspected every property that is featured in France and Italy, and looks after the management of the properties in the south of France.

Edward was born in Edinburgh and spent his early years in Scotland. He graduated in Russian and History from London University and went on to do a post graduate course in Book and Magazine production, and Business Management at the London College of Printing. His first appointment was as Export Manager for India for Penguin Books and he later moved on to become Asia sales manager, and set up the Penguin Books office in Hong Kong. During his 5 years at Penguin Edward visited most bookshops and universities between Istanbul and Tokyo.

The allure of travel got into his blood. He started his career in travel in conference, trade fair and event management, later moving into retail and leisure travel. He was one of the pioneers of the luxury villa rental market, initially contracting some of the first villas with pools in Tuscany over 30 years ago. He has worked for luxury villa rental companies in the USA, in the UK and in France, and has been involved in the luxury villa and concierge business in St Tropez for over 25 years.

Edward is a keen photographer and has taken many of the villa shots on this website. He is an ardent cricket follower, is an MCC member and has played at Lord’s himself. When he is not looking after clients, or inspecting new villas and destinations, he is probably at his happiest in one of the stands at Lord’s or having grilled fish and a bottle of local Rosé wine at one of St Tropez’s famous beach bars.

Annie brings a wealth of international experience to the L’e Marquis team. Her passion for communication and service has determined her personality.

 

A graduate of the Ithaca College of New York with MSc in Corporate Communication and Public Relations, she has enhanced her knowledge as a communication manager for several major corporations over a twenty year career. She has also been responsible for large budgets, for corporate and personal events, and for guest relations in international hotels.

 

Since moving from Athens to Cannes in 2012, she has focused on private and business events, as well as providing concierge services to luxury villas. She is fluent in English, French and Greek. She carries out the most demanding projects in the most effective and creative way. She is a true professional.

George plays a vital role at L’e Marquis by ensuring that every property the company handles is fully ensured against any eventuality.

George has ben one of the UK’s leading private client insurance brokers for the past 15 years. He started with student specialist Endsleigh before joining Stackhouse Poland (SP) in 2002 to help them develop their national relationship with the wealth management company, St James Place.

George then created Green Park Insurance Services (GPIS) as a joint venture between SP and Mayfair based Alexander Associates Group in London. GPIS rapidly became on of the market leaders in providing tailored insurance – essentially a single policy covering household, motor and travel insurance, and, where applicable, yacht and private aviation.

This business was sold in September 2015 and George joined SPF Private Clients. SPF, (formerly Savills Private Finance), is one of the UK’s leading financial services companies, and George is currently working with them to develop their private client insurance business.
